Marshfield Youth Basketball was formed in 1975 as a town wide basketball program open to all school age boys and girls. The program offers both recreational and competitive basketball leagues. Our focus is on learning good sportsmanship, team play and, respect for others, while developing fundamental skills, and understanding the rules of the game.
The program is run completely by volunteers with the goal of providing a safe and fun youth sports experience for the children in Marshfield.
In 2013/2014, the MYB Town Recreational Program had over 810 participants playing on a total of 82 teams. Our Travel Team programs combined had over 320 participants on 29 different teams.
Thanks to the continued support of the community and the help of our many volunteers.

Message from the President of Marshfield Youth Basketball - Bob Ahearn
As I start my third year as President of Marshfield Youth Basketball, I wanted to thank all of the current board members and prior board members for the success of our basketball program. It takes many hours of hard work and dedication to oversee the entire program from travel teams, recreation leagues and instructional clinics.
This year we will again have over 1,000 players registered to play basketball in the Town of Marshfield. Our goal is to develop these children into solid basketball players by teaching them the fundamentals of the game along with sportsmanship, while making sure they are having fun.
I am excited this year to announce some new changes to our travel basketball program. We have purchased new uniforms for all of our travel teams this year. Also, we are emphasizing the need for travel players to play recreation basketball on Saturdays in addition to travel basketball. We are going to make the recreation leagues competitive and keep score and standings.
We have also, for the first time, partnered with Dick’s Sporting Goods in Hanover and they had a Marshfield Youth Basketball Appreciation Day in October which allowed our parents to make purchases at a discount that day.
We have a very interactive and informational website www.marshfieldyouthbasketball.com. Please check it out from time to time as we constantly upload photos and other new items on our teams.
Good luck to all of our travel teams this year as you compete against other cities and towns throughout the South Shore. I am confident that all players, coaches and parents will act as proud representatives of the Town of Marshfield.
All players need to be registered electronically before they can be placed on a team. If your child attended tryouts but did not register online please complete your registration via the Register Online tab at our website www.marshfieldyouthbasketball.com.
Registration for all Recreational (Rec) Program Coaches is now open on the Register Online tab of our homepage www.marshfieldyouthbasketball.com. We are requiring all those interested in being considered as a Recreational coach register online before November 15th.
The 2014-2015 travel basketball season begins this week with travel team tryouts. Please have all players bring water and a reversible shirt like the shirts provided for travel practice and the Rec. league last season. This will help divide teams for scrimmages during the tryout.
Registration for our popular Recreational Program is now open on the "Register Online" tab of our website www.marshfieldyouthbasketball.com. Our Recreational Program is for both boys and girls grades 1-12. Registration will be open until November 15, 2014 and the season will begin on Saturday, December 13, 2014.The season will run on Saturdays through mid-March. The cost of the program is $80 per player with a family maximum of $200. We are looking forward to another fun season!
Travel Team Tryouts: For the 2014-2015 season we will once again have our popular Travel Program for girls and boys in grades 4 - 8. In order to play on a travel team, players must attend tryouts and be selected to play on a team. The travel program offers a higher level of competition against teams from other towns and play requires an increased level of commitment. There will be two tryout sessions for each grade level held in October with the schedule now posted to our website. Travel tryout registration is a separate registration from the Recreational Program and is now open.
On our website http://www.marshfieldyouthbasketball.com/ please access the "Register Online" tab on the left to enter our Registration system and sign up for travel tryouts for the appropriate grade. No fee is collected to attend the tryouts. Once teams are selected, the team fees are determined and collected. Further information will be provided for the dates, times and locations of the Travel Team tryouts.
